Beliefs which US imperialism harbours in its back room

On Jan 31, 2003, MSNBC published an article titled "Playing the ‘Last, Best Hope’ Card" by Howard Fineman "special to MSNBC", in which there is direct talk about a "new imperial age", about the "The English Speaking Peoples" "joining hands to bring the Western idea of freedom to a part of the planet that" - as he concedes - probably "distrusts the concepts wew hold so dear."
In order to support this, the first imperialistic wars by the US around the turn of 19th/20th century are justified, and the leading gang of today is positively compared to the one of then, its task being praised as some kind of repetition.
