The Signing of the So-called Nuclear Energy Consensus (in Germany)

This so-called consensus materialized because Trittin (note) on behalf of this government promised the great electricity combines its consent for the mergers (Veba and Viag to Eon, RWE and VEW to RWE) and offered them high prices and a certain protection against the loss of the monopoly as experienced by the Telekom. ‘You keep, resp. extend your monopoly, and we in return get your basic consent for the closing down of the nuclear energy.’ A deal of fundamentally reactionary character, on top of everything struck immediately on the consumers’ backs. The electricity prices have recently risen again for the private consumers, contrary to the expected trend to come to their lowering by the opening of the electricity market in Europe and the loosening of the monopoly. This clearly matters above all for low and average earners and people with children.

What is meant if Juergen Trittin states that a global signal effect has to be expected from the consensus about nuclear energy? It means that the pressure on the large majority of nations concerning independence in energy production and energy prices will increase. This direction of alternative energies and energy saving has been globally existing for appr. 25 years now, and during these 25 years a capitalism has simultaneously gained ground which in an unprecedented manner has worn out workers all around the globe. The victims of this exploitation can be numbered only in many millions. For „saving energy“ and for the rising of the costs of machinery in favour of massive manual work this direction has spoken out, and in some way it has got it. With the overturn of formerly socialist states a crudeness of exploitation has returned which can only be compared to the most aggressive forms in history. Whereas the petty bourgeois and the apologists of this society were delighted about the soft energy, the conditions for many deteriorated very „ungently“.

The signal shall be to the effect that by the destruction of nuclear energy a most essential pillar of energy production is destroyed, actually first of all outside of the great powers and above all outside the USA.

German imperialism which today appears as a subordinate partner of the US has been running around with the ecologist’s cloak for a long time. But ecology in the way it has been propagated for years by the alternative direction and the media is reactionary also by its principle. With regard to mastery of nature, it attempts to spoke into mankind’s wheel, it attempts to hinder all practices which are directed towards the emancipation from natural forces and in this way to attack also the process of social emancipation, as the latter has anyway mastery of nature as its fundament.

Therefore those who have not yet devoted themselves to capitalism and its mad overexploitation of man, must not agree to this fundamentally reactionary hustle and bustle, but must decidedly attack capitalism. In the past putative communists have supported the eco-campaign as a whole and the anti-nuclear-energy campaign in particular, although the building of the nuclear energy production had once been the pride of the communists. This bears a direct relation to the decay of the principles of this revolutionary political movement which had set in  previously and in the meantime led to the decline.

Meanwhile the tightening of the working conditions has for a long time reached also the developed countries like Germany. One expects working conditions of the workers about which no boss would have dared to talk yet 20 years ago. But no wonder, as the devaluation of the price of labor cannot stop at the borders of Western Europe and should not do so either, were one not to postulate that here there are special rights.

It is time to see the dirty and demagogic character of the whole alternative and eco-movement. These forces have draped a social cloak round them some time ago, but today they prove to be the wildest whips of exploitation on the international and the national level. If the representatives of the energy combines declare immediately before the signing that they are not willing the closing down and had been forced to sign under the pressure of the destructive campaign, the fact remains, though, that they sign the verbatim contract with all its consequences and their own responsibility for it.
